The Mission of Holy Cross Lutheran Church: to multiply the followers of Christ.

Sunday Worship

Every church has its own style of worship. We think you will enjoy the services at Holy Cross, but as in any church, you should expect it to take a couple of Sundays to become accustomed to our way of praising God together.

Every service is outlined in the front of the hymn book. Specific information on the parts that change from week to week is given in the bulletin.

The services focus on readings from the Bible. Music and singing are an important part of our church services. Listen to the singing and before long you will be singing too. Loud or soft, in monotone or rich harmony, all our praises are music to God.

The services include the following parts in a variety of forms:

• The invocation - We call on the name of God and praise Him.
• Admitting sin - Finding forgiveness; we acknowledge that we have not been or done what God asks. We are assured of forgiveness in Jesus.
• Bible readings - Selections from God’s Old Testament prophets, Jesus’ apostles, and from Jesus in the Gospels.
• Sermon - Our pastor offers instruction and encouragement in a Bible based message. Expect God’s guidance and His grace for dealing with problems.
• Response to the Word - We respond with offerings and prayers for the things He has promised to us and for strength to do what He has asked.
• Parting Blessing - We hear one last assurance of God’s care.

Our services use traditional forms and modern language and application. The traditional brings us the best from God’s church through the ages. The contemporary brings God’s promises and His will into our daily life. We hope you enjoy both.

Sunday morning activities begin with an 8:00 a.m. service. Sunday School for both adults and children is at 9:15 a.m. A second service is at 10:30 a.m.

Sunday School is open to children age three and older and adults. The exact age for beginning Sunday School depends on the individual child’s readiness.

Study and Service Opportunities

• Throughout the week there are Bible classes at the church and in members homes. You are cordially invited to attend one of these classes. The following Bible classes and small groups are available:
  • Sunday morning Bible Studay at 9:15 a.m.
  • Divine Drama
  • LifeLight
  • Men's Bible Breakfast on Wednesday mornings
  • Mother's Group
  • Choir on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m.
  • Adult Instruction
  • CROSSWAYS!
  • Women's Bible Study
• The Sewing Circle meets on Monday mornings
• On Thursdays, members of the church gather to do major work or repairs to the church and to assist those who need help with repairs around their homes.
• In addition to fellowship time following Sunday services, there are potluck dinners and special Christian fellowships.
• Parish Nursing - Our health ministries program promotes health and wellness

How to Find Us

Holy Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church is located at 4701 Grove Street in Rocklin, California. Take the Rocklin Road exit off Interstate 80 and turn west. Turn right on Grove Street and continue for 4 blocks. The church is across the street from the Placer County Realtors Association building.
