Sunday School Purpose

"Sunday School is an opportunity for children and youth to hear and study God's Word. The Holy Spirit, working through God's Word, enables faith formation and the development of relationships - with God, with the staff and with one another."

When - Where - What

The Sunday School program begins at 9:15 am in the sanctuary. The Opening for Preschool through 8th grade offers students a time to gather in song and prayer which focuses and prepares them to hear and study God's Word. This is quite similar to the structure of our corporate worship, and in fact, helps to prepare the children for participation in worship.

Preschool through 6th grade students are using the "Our Life In Christ" curriculum published by CPH. During the fall, the students will be studying Old Testament lessons. Through the winter and spring, lessons will focus on the life of Jesus and the New Testament. Junior High and Senior High classes are using a topical studies curriculum, "Bible Impact, " also from CPH. Topics for discussion will include health issues, social issues, relationships with peers and family, future planning, and other religions.

Birthdays

We will be celebrating the children's birthdays during the opening on the first Sunday of each month. Children who will have a birthday during that month will be recognized. Please help your child to remember to bring one coin for each year of his/her age to put in the birthday bank to be used for a mission project.

Attendance

We are keeping a record of faithful attendance. Children who have missed no more than one class for the quarter will be recognized. If your child is absent, but attended at another Christian Church, please bring a bulletin (or Sunday School lesson) to your child's teacher so that your child will receive credit.

Teacher's Meeting

The Sunday School staff meets quarterly, usually on Sunday afternoons.
